Executive Director - Prescott Group- POSITION FILLED

Since 1962, Prescott Group has been providing support services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Their services include a social enterprise (Fireside Kitchen, Prescott Mailing Services and Atlantic Bag Manufacturers) where their clients gain work and life skills; employment services where clients have the opportunity to work in the community, and personal development programs designed to enhance clients’ life, social and communication skills.

Their long-serving Executive Director is retiring in June and we are seeking a special person to lead this widely-respected organization into the future.

What qualities are needed as Executive Director?

Above all, you are an outstanding leader who can blend long-term, visionary thinking with the day-to-day running of a very busy organization. Personally, you have a strong commitment to social entrepreneurship and have demonstrated that you truly care about others through your actions and work experience.

As the senior staff person in the organization reporting to the Board of Directors, you will  have an understanding of governance in the not-for-profit sector. You will work closely with the Board in policy development, program planning, and strategic direction – keeping them fully apprised of all external and internal issues that could affect the organization.

In addition to your business acumen, you have particular strengths in program planning and delivery, ideally for adults with intellectual or other disabilities. In this capacity, you will ensure all clients are provided with a range of employment and program options including job training, work and life skills development, and community employment and volunteer opportunities.

You are comfortable with all the financial and operational aspects of running a not-for-profit organization. Your knowledge in this area encompasses fund raising, budgeting, cash flow, capital expenditures, purchasing, risk management, financial reporting, health and safety, and building management.

You are at ease serving as the face of the organization in community outreach and advocacy roles. Here, you will build and maintain good working relationships with family members and caregivers, government, funders, elected officials, customers,  media, and other community groups and agencies.

And, finally, you are an exceptional leader of people. Someone who is consistent, calm and composed in stressful situations. Someone who is accountable and doesn’t blame others when mistakes happen. Someone who doesn’t pretend to know everything but invests time in staff to help them learn. Someone who brings energy, inclusivity and, most important, respect for those with intellectual disabilities.
