Office Manager – Law Firm

Burchells LLP is a long-established, Atlantic Canadian law firm offering a range of legal services to businesses and individuals. On their behalf, we are recruiting an Office Manager who is committed to a “Do It Once, Do It Right” work standard.

With efficiency and professionalism foremost in your mind, your primary function in this job is to take care of the administrative, operational, and support functions of the firm so that lawyers can devote their time exclusively to providing quality legal services to clients.

As the “go to” person in the office, you will be responsible for support staff – including recruitment, professional development, performance management, work planning and compensation – ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to perform their jobs satisfactorily. You will oversee all office management activities such as facilities, office equipment, purchasing, records management, website and security.

Working closely with the IT Coordinator, you will make sure all hardware and software systems are working efficiently and capable of meeting all current and future operational needs. You will also play a key role administering the various communication and marketing programs approved by the Marketing Committee.

As the ideal candidate, you understand the role and responsibilities of a legal assistant and have a proven track of accomplishments in a fast-paced professional services environment. In addition to the technical skills required to do the job successfully, you have a client service orientation and a knack for operational efficiencies. You are highly organized by nature, worry about the details and notice the “little things.” You have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and can handle competing demands on your time with ease.

Although you will report to the Management Committee, you must be proactive and flexible enough to respond to the needs of all partners and lawyers with a keen sense of urgency.
