Vice President, Business Excellence – Clearwater

Clearwater is already a global leader when it comes to harvesting, processing and distributing fresh and frozen fish and shellfish. The company holds major rights to gathering clams, crabs, lobster, scallops and shrimp off Canadian and South American shores. Each year, Clearwater sells approximately 80 million pounds of seafood in more than 30 countries.

Operating its own recently renewed fleet of vessels as well as offshore and onshore plants, Clearwater’s high growth is being driven by its near-unparalleled access to rich resources, its admirable record for sustainability, its demonstrably innovative culture – and its global reputation for high quality products that are increasingly in demand across rapidly emerging international markets.

Clearwater is leveraging this unique position to transform itself into a heavyweight global consumer brand. To help this happen, the company is searching for a Vice President, Business Excellence. This is a senior, global role that reports directly to our client’s executive team – meaning you’ll have a chance to work with high performing leadership, significantly shape Clearwater’s success, make your mark and achieve a tangible career legacy.

The job

Working closely with the executive team, your responsibilities will range from ‘ocean to plate’ to encompass the company’s entire global operation. Travelling domestically and sometimes internationally to production plants, vessels at sea and to major customers and suppliers, you’ll implement and continuously improve our client’s supply chain operations.

Applying tools as Six Sigma, Lean, TPM & TQM, you’ll lead value stream analysis and engineering initiatives; develop and manage a detailed cost-loss tree and conduct zero-based loss analyses across the company. You’ll drive Kaizen events and will motivate leadership (including general, vessel and plant managers) to continuously improve the way they and their teams work.

We’re looking for

A high performer already working at a senior level in a consumer packaged goods or fast-moving consumer goods company, you have at least eight years’ experience of leading operational efficiency across a manufacturing environment.

A compelling communicator and a natural leader, coach and mentor, you’re excellent at building key relationships across complex businesses. Able to see the big picture and make the right decisions holistically, you have outstanding analytical and problem solving skills. You’re flexible and resilient enough to follow a strategy that’s nimble enough to keep up with a dynamic market.

You have a technical degree and an MBA – and, more importantly, are extremely literate when it comes to businesses and balance sheets. You have a highly impressive track record when it comes to hardwiring business and operational excellence into a company’s cultural DNA on a global scale.

You have the relevant continuous improvement qualifications and have successfully rolled out value stream analysis and engineering across a business. You have deep knowledge of ERP systems and experience of translating raw system data into operational insight. Most of all, you’re a troubleshooter extraordinaire and a master at conceptualizing and delivering break-through improvements. A detailed job description is available.
