Perennia is a Nova Scotia-based organization committed to helping farmers, fishers and food processors become more prosperous and profitable. Affiliated with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and governed by an independent, industry-led Board of Directors, Perennia plays an important role in the economic development of Nova Scotia. They do this by assisting companies in the agricultural and seafood sectors reach new markets, supporting high-value production, and encouraging innovation and incubation.
On their behalf, we are looking for someone who epitomizes the values, integrity and professionalism of the organization to serve as its new Chief Executive Officer.
What qualities are needed in this role?
Simply put, the CEO of Perennia must be a special person: an entrepreneurial, multitalented leader who brings a unique blend of leadership attributes, management skills, innovative approaches, and personal qualities to the table. As such, you must combine long-term, visionary thinking with business intellect, presence, and a global mindset – all of which will be deployed to benefit stakeholders in the agricultural and seafood sectors.
You should have appropriate academic and/or professional credentials along with proven experience in business, food processing, or economic development. Your relationship building skills must be well developed as you will work extensively with a range of stakeholders including clients, industry associations, government, media, Board members, employees, and, most important, producers and processors.
Your wide-ranging skills in strategy planning, business development, relationship building, leadership, communication, human resources, and finance equip you fully for the challenges of leading a dynamic organization. You should also have experience working with a Board of Directors and a complete understanding of governance.
